DPA 4055 Kick Drum Microphone
The DPA 4055 Kick Drum Microphone is designed for the toughest of challenges.
Works Inside and Outside the Drum
The DPA 4055 Kick Drum Microphone is designed to be positioned inside and outside of the kick drum. It can even be pointed directly at the beater to get that extra attack (“smash”) from the beater head.
Due to its asymmetric design, the 4055 can easily be manoeuvred to slide into even the smaller drum skin holes.
Other mics of this type have a shape that makes it very difficult to place them inside the drum, almost forcing users to do acrobatics to avoid ripping the front resonator skin off.
Shape the Sound Your Way
Furthermore, an even sensitivity at all frequencies allows the sound engineer to tailor the sound with an EQ as needed (like working from a blank canvas).
The DPA 4055 captures the true sound of the drum and can be specifically tailored to fit any genre. In addition to this, the 4055 can be used on ANY instrument.
Industry standard mics for kick drums are tailored for a specific sound. They have a frequency response that can make it difficult to redesign the sound of the instrument to fit the playing style and the culture of specific genres.
